ABOUT US

OLIVE ISLE is a family owned and operated business on the north west coast of Tasmania Australia.

Nine years ago Leon and Lynne Hennessy started research with the intention to produce fine quality table and other olive oil products using only Tasmanian content.

Climatic conditions and other factors meant that only a small number of trees were suitable. The family now believe that they have the answers to the main questions facing growers in cool climate regions.

1. What are the best varieties?
2.
Where to obtain these varieties?
3.
How is an olive tree affected by planting in the wrong climatic conditions?

The Hennessy family believed the only solution was to start a nursery in Tasmania to solely produce olive trees for the cool and cold climates of Tasmania and the southern regions of mainland Australia.

Over the last 6 years, involving thousands of hours of experimentation, Leon, Lynne, Clint & Troy have built a nursery to meet commercial demands.

As a quality breed nursery Olive Isle can offer to customers a service called ON GROWING:

ON GROWING is where you can place your orders for a set number of trees. Those trees are struck on your behalf then grown to the required height at the nursery.

Major benefits are as follows;

(1) We guarantee the type, height and number of trees you require.

(2) If losses occur whilst at the nursery they are covered by the nursery.

(3) Payments for trees are in three stages, over a twelve month to eighteen month period.

(a) Initial payment for the purchase of the saplings (i.e currently $2.00 per sapling) 300 tree order, payment - $600

(b) six to nine months later you pay half the balance.

(c) Six to nine months after (3b) you pay the remainder.

(4) There is a sizeable tax relief to most people who have their trees on-grown for them. (Please confirm with your tax agent as conditions may and do apply.)

(5) The on-growing period is used by the owner to implement their grove area, and in doing so the trees are planted whilst in premium condition (It is not advisable to have your trees on hand then start to implement your grove.)
